Petra − The Symbol of Jordan

Petra is a city hewn out of rock with unbelievable beauty and elegance and was the capital of an Arab kingdom in Hellenistic and Roman times. It lies on the slope of Mount Hor, on a terrace overlooking the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba, in the Jordanian governorate of Ma´an. The deep and narrow gorge naturally formed in rock, the only entrance to the city, made the city impenetrable to forces from outside.

Petra was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on 6th December, 1985, describing it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man´s cultural heritage". The world community voted Petra as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. BBC chose it as one of "the forty places you have to see before you die". Petra is now globally recognized as a symbol of Jordan and is the most visited tourism destination in Jordan.

Classic Fashion is committed to the protection of the heritage treasures of Jordan and spends a good amount out of its CSR funds for this purpose.
